Tonight I'll be performing with my brother and several members of his church in a Chicago tribute band! We'll be playing a full set of hit songs made famous by the group. Instruments tonight include keyboards, two guitars, drums, three trumpets, two trombones and flute.
Update: Here's a video of us doing "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is"

That was pretty darn good. Just a couple of things could have been better.
ReplyDeleteTrumpet player need to rehearse a little more. The background vocalist should have sang an octive higher.
The trombone player really captured Jimmy Pankow's style.
I enjoyed this.
Thanks! We only rehearsed all together once... about 45 minutes before the actual performance.
ReplyDeleteI love it!! Were did you get the music and are there more videos?
ReplyDeleteThanks! You can check out these two as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPlQ06gZiK0 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-iGSqQFFJE&feature=related
ReplyDeleteBy the way, my brother ordered a couple of Chicago arrangement books at a music store and that's what the horn players used. For me, I've played these songs in the past and so I just played them by memory. With perfect pitch, you can get away with that. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't memorize lyrics though, so I usually end up reading them on the music stand. But the music is all played by ear.
